Pencarrow to Petone
Start your adventure with a ferry across Wellington harbour to the beautiful Days Bay.
We’ll then shuttle you to our main base in Eastbourne, and get you briefed and underway on your bikes. Choose to do an optional out-and-back ride to Pencarrow Head first (highly recommended!) before taking the new shared pathway around the Bays north to Petone.

EQUIPMENT RECOMMENDATIONS
Bike: basic mountain bikes or hybrid bikes with front suspension are fine - nothing fancy required. Always take a spare tube and pump.
Tyres: > 1.75" wide, mid-high pressure
Clothing: dress to the conditions (usually shorts and tshirt with a jersey in reserve), and always take a light jacket. Closed shoes recommended.
Other: always carry a first aid kit with you, and enough warm clothing and food to stay warm until help arrives in case of emergency.
AMENITIES / SERVICES
Cellphones: good coverage for all providers at 99% of locations.
Toilets: plenty of options - either wait for a public toilet next to one of the many parks you pass along the way, or duck off the trail and into a local cafe.
Food: plenty of cafes, stores, supermarkets a short distance from the trail.
Water: free water at Wildfinder Days Bay, duck off the trail to one of the many drinking fountains in our parks, or fill up at a shop / cafe along the way.
